Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting tasks, including financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Review, prepare, and record journal entries with proper support and sign-off.

  • Maintain the fixed asset schedule and accruals.

Qualifications:

• CPA or equivalent certification.

• 3-7 years of experience in financial management and analysis.

• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with GAAP reporting and Quickbooks Online.

Head of Finance, Cleantech **** Completed ****

Our client is a PE-owned Cleantech company and we are seeking a Head of Finance to lead and develop a team of 4 Financial professionals owning the financial and accounting processes and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees accounting operations for the business division with entities in Canada and the USA.

• Collaborates with other Business Unit Controllers affiliated with the organization to ensure proper consolidation and corporate reporting

• Completion of monthly and year-end close processes

• Month-end close duties include:

  • Data Entry and Account coding review

  • Account reconciliations using the approved account checklist

  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Schedule and Accruals

  • Preparation of financial statements for variance analysis

  • Recording of journal entries, as well as review of journal entries created by accounting staff

  • Perform weekly review of A/R and A/P

  • Reviewing payroll prior to submission for both Canadian and US Staff

• Working with the parent company in the oversight of the financial and accounting systems and related personnel

• Cash management decision making and forecasting regarding payments and receipts

• Lead person for compiling the monthly business review (MBR) information and assisting other departments with their reporting needs

• Oversee and support the annual strategic planning and budgeting process at the divisional level

• Ad hoc EBITDA projections and decision support analysis

• Continuous improvement of cash flow management, expenses and financial analysis to improve business effectiveness and efficiency

• Oversee the annual pension plan compliance reporting

• Working with cross-functional departments such as engineering and marketing providing monthly budget/variance reports

• Overseeing control of the CAPEX process and ensuring adherence to the approval matrix

• Leads and directs the work of the Finance Team.

Requirements:

• 5-10 years’ experience in finance with 5 years’ experience leading a finance team

• USGAAP reporting, FP&A, US & Canadian parroll rules, Canadian corporate tax filing

• SR&ED experience a plus.

• Strong excel skills and great communications skills.

Reporting to the VP Operations, you will be responsible for performing full-cycle accounting, cash management and month-end tasks. You are interested in accounting and have qualified as a CPA because you want to make meaningful contributions in positions you hold. Responsibilities

• Own accounts payable and banking functions.

• Communicate with multiple departments for updates on customer status and subsequently oversee invoice drafting, review, issuance and collections.

• Prepare required government remittances WCB, GST, PST, and all other relevant regulatory filings.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare monthly journal entries, including multi-currency consolidation.

• Perform full-cycle accounting and month-end functions efficiently and accurately.

• Prepare month-end financial reports of a multi-company group and their consolidation for review and discussion.

• Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external advisors as required. 

• Assist the VP and other departmental leads with annual budget process including providing meaningful recommendations. 

• Perform ad hoc and regular financial analysis and reports as required to support the executive team.

• Review accounting procedures and make recommendations to improve or implement processes.

• Investigate and resolve financial transaction issues including GAAP requirements.

• Perform other accounting duties as assigned by the CFO.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a CPA designation or equivalent in work experience.

• 5 years of recent related experience in a similar role.

• Proven experience in taking responsibility for full-cycle accounting processes, policies and systems.

• Strong financial and analytical abilities in a SaaS company.

• Detail-oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.

• Assess, and streamline finance and administration systems, policies and procedures to ensure accuracy

• Ensure financial plans in line with the strategic business plan

• Maintain stable cash flow management policies and procedures and ensure cash resources are available for daily operations

• Provide financial models to assess the overall effectiveness of budget allocation of current ROI as well as future ROI

• Review and update financial and operational controls and metrics within the organization

• Develop robust financial analysis and reporting systems to provide appropriate management information to support the company’s growth

• Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to form and maintain good working relationships across a multinational fast-paced organization
