In this role, you’ll directly handle everything from preparing financial statements and conducting in-depth analysis to budgeting, forecasting, and inventory control. Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Forecasting

  • Create and maintain financial projections and forecasts for future periods.

  • Lead cash management decision-making and develop cash-flow forecasting models to inform and support business decisions.

  • Direct the annual budgeting process, coordinating with all departments to align budgets with the company’s strategic goals.

  • Formulate and contribute to a strategy that drives financial performance, growth, and sustainability.

Inventory Planning and Forecasting

  • Develop and implement inventory planning models that optimize stock levels, considering limited historical data.

  • Coordinate with operations, supply chain, and sales teams to refine demand forecasts and inventory replenishment strategies.

  • Analyze inventory turnover rates, lead times, and seasonal trends to support accurate forecasting in a startup environment.

  • Identify potential inventory risks and recommend adjustments to reduce stockouts or overstock situations.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare and present detailed, accurate, and timely financial reports tracking the business's financial health, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Conduct thorough analyses of financial data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost reductions and revenue growth.

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with variance analysis.

  • Lead monthly business reviews and assist other departments with reporting.

Accounting Operations and Compliance

  • Oversee all financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month and year-end close, including reviewing data entry and account coding, reconciliation of all accounts, and review of A/R and A/P weekly.

  • Review, prepare, and record journal entries with proper support and sign-off.

  • Maintain the fixed asset schedule and accruals.

  • Manage internal and external audits to ensure financial compliance and transparency.

Financial Controls and Risk Management

  • Improve and streamline processes and financial controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within accounting operations.

  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial risks to protect the organization's assets and profitability.

Financing and Strategic Support

  • Assist with business financings, including preparing materials, conducting analysis, or completing other closing activities.

  • Document and review current accounting processes and procedures, looking for opportunities to improve efficiency and expand the team as the company grows.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CPA or Equivalent Certification: CPA designation or equivalent, with a strong preference for candidates who began their careers in a Big Four accounting and audit firm or a reputable midsized or regional audit firm, gaining exposure to best-in-class business practices and professional standards.

  • Inventory Management Expertise: Extensive experience in inventory management within a high-turnover environment, such as retail, pharmacy, e-commerce, restaurant chains, or supermarkets, including skills in forecasting, planning, and building robust systems and processes.

  • Professional Experience: 3-7 years of proven experience in finance management, planning, and analysis, with hands-on experience in leading or conducting audits.

  • Technical Accounting Proficiency: Strong foundation in GAAP reporting, coupled with experience in SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) within a tech environment.

  • Software Skills: Advanced expertise in QuickBooks Online, with a focus on leveraging its capabilities for a fast-paced business environment.

  • Regulatory Knowledge and Best Practices: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in financial management, ensuring compliance and governance.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: High proficiency in analyzing data, forecasting, and delivering actionable insights, paired with creative problem-solving skills and sound judgment to support informed decision-making.

  • Attention to Detail and Deadline Management: Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines as needed.
